Tulum Ruins

A visit to the Yucatan is not complete without exploring Mayan ruins.

>> Tulum is just 20 minutes south of Akumal on Hwy. 307. Perched above the sea, it is impressive to see, a very popular tour site.
>> For a true "Indiana Jones" experience visit Coba, 42 km. west of Tulum. Many buildings are still covered by jungle. The brave can climb Nohoch Mul, the tallest pyramid in the Yucatan peninsula.
>> Muyil is 25 kilometers south of the Pueblo of Tulum. Rarely visited but quite spectacular. A path leads from the ruins through a lush jungle area to Laguna Muyil in the Sian Ka’an.
>> Further afield is Ek Balam, under restoration, with impressive plaster carvings.
>> Don't miss Chichen Itza. During the Spring and Fall equinoxes, (March 21 and Sept 21) the setting sun creates shadows down the steps of the pyramid that resemble a snake descending.

Akumal wedding

Weddings in Akumal:

Imagine standing on the beach, with the love of your life and your closest friends and family. As a background an orange sunset, a calm sea with water from teal to deep blue. Later, a barefoot walk on the beach, under stars shining so bright they illuminate. Your wedding party ends up in front of the Lolha Restaurant, a beautiful thatched roof building right on the main bay, and you have your drinks and appetizers under the stars with tiki torches to light the area. Dinner is served inside, or on the veranda, with a menu personally selected by you, served by our friendly and professional staff.
